Garden's Invader

Garden's Invader

by Fro Macoon

A vine

snaking its viper-green

neck

through

the

wreckage of tomato.

troops of pollen

standing

loyally

beside the

vine, ready

to

invade

the peace of

the plants

so delicately

planted

in

this garden

this tomato

this weed

this army

garden invader.

Sunset

Sunset

by Fro Macoon

Day fades out and

The sun

dies, slowly,

sinking

beyond the

mountains

setting

fire to the

sky

not day

not night

but

the time

in between

when

the light

is disappearing

slowly

transforming

to blackness

sunset

Leaves of snow

Leaves of Snow

by Fro Macoon

White petals fall from

Their clusters

Landing on

The puddles, the cars, the wet cement

like snow.

White, like snow,

Dancing from the sky like snow,

But those

Are the only

things they

have

in

common.

They fill the air with

Their gentle, delicate

grace

like a

flying

bird in the

sky of

snowy

petals.

Flowers of Fire

Flowers of Fire

by Fro Macoon

Their shades of

Red and

Light pink, sunset pink

Set the petals

To a red fire

A flower of fire

Blooming

From the rich earth

Fire

It can be harmful,

Killing all

Life in an

Area

But, yet,

It is forgiving

It

Gives life

To this flower, this

Flower of fire

Tower

Tower

by Fro Macoon

Someone

On that hot dry day,

Left a tower

Of rocks

Leaning on the sand, pressed against

Each other for

Strength.

It seems like

The tower will never

Leave, will never

Be dismantled

From the strong grip of the other rocks,

the rocks and the

Sand.

But in time,

All in time,

The waves, the waves

Will stretch up to this shore,

Pulling back

With everything it needs to take

Into its churning,

foaming clutches

Stripping that shore clean.

Sunny Fur Ball

Sunny Fur Ball
by Fro Macoon

Her whiskers flick

At the slightest touch,

Eyes blinking in the bright sun

Fur ruffles in the silken breeze,

Ears twitch,

She is always moving,

Never a still creature,

And yet,

She stretches out in the sun

To bask in its warm, inviting light

A sunny fur ball.

Lace

Lace
By Fro Macoon

Thin as sheets of paper,

Their stems crackling with browned age,

They survived through the harsh winter,

Their delicate stems bowed with the weight of the snow,

Spidery thin,

Papery,

All life is gone from them now

Yet beauty still shines through their

lacy

petals.

Pink Stars

Pink Stars of Spring

by Fro Macoon

I walk out,

Across the porch

My boots squish the damp soil

With snow melting,

I see

A tiny glimmer of pink

A pink star

Its delicate leaves are unfurled,

The fragile stem swaying

In the gentle breeze

They are pink stars,

Stars of spring.

Valentine's Special

Valentine's Special

by Fro Macoon

I like a lot of things,

I love a whole lot of things.

Like

My mom typing

Her fingers fly across the keyboard

But I LOVE

the sound,

A tapping noise all at once

and

My rabbit,

I love my rabbit,

The way she hops up to me,

But I LOVE

The the way she sleeps,

With her white, furry stomach up to the cloudless sky

and

I like the moon,

How it shines down on my window,

But I LOVE

How it dapples my bed,

Washing it in liquid silver,

and

I like ice,

Ice on the street,

Filling the cracks with

Cold glass

But I LOVE

How it always deceives me

and

I like the ocean,

How it laps against the shore,

Constant push and pull

But I LOVE

The noise

As I lie down to sleep.

I love a lot of things.

Icy Point

Icy Point

by Fro Macoon

Dripping,

It hangs from the

roof

in an

Icy point

ending with a sharp

spike

with spiraled shards of

ice

Formed together into

an icicle.

Pine Needles

by Kit Yoon

Pine Needles

by Fro Macoon

They survive

Through the worst weather,

Snow weighing down their tiny needles,

Ice

Beading on their branches.

Green in the

World of white.

They thrive.

Buddha

Hands clasped,

Eyes closed,

Peace radiates

From the statue

Legs crossed

Light smile

Buddha

Icy Branch

Icy Branch
by Fro Macoon

I look out

Of the foggy windowpane

A world of white

Lies ahead

A thick blanket,

Winter's scarf.

I step outside

My boots crunch against the icy layer,

I wade through the swamp of winter

To find

The tree,

Slick with sleet

Ice

Freezing rain.

I stare at the branch

Tiny

Simple

Covered with winter's icy breath

I only see its beauty.

Sand Dollar

Sand Dollar

Delicate, fragile,

Smoothed by the ocean's rolling,

Fringes on top placed carefully,

Every line,

Every curve,

Sand dollar.

New Shoots

New Shoots
By Fro Macoon

They grow,

Shooting up in little green threads,

Silky as a blanket,

Breathing in life from the rich, dark soil.

Stretching to the sunlight above,

Trembling in the slightest breeze,

New life grows

In the cracked ceramic of its

home.

Heat

Heat
by Fro Macoon

Heat,

Like a drop of pure sun,

Touches everything in the first ray of light,

Setting the leaves on fire,

Bathing everything in its warm golden glow.

Like liquid honey,

In the slow breeze

Ripening tomatoes,

Calling everything,

Towards sleepiness in its

Heat.

Amaryllis

Amaryllis
by Fro Macoon

Scarlet red,

Red as the wisp of sunset clouds in the sky,

Stretching the tips of the flowers to warmth, sun,

Opening like a robin spreading its wings.

Stalks as green as a grapevine,

Snaking its red beauty up to the sky,

Petals like a sheet of velvet to the touch

Amaryllis.
